Kotohiracho comprises the western portion of Nakatadogun
District, near the center of Kagawa Prefecture. Its latitudinal
and longitudinal coordinates are 34K12h7f N, and 133K49h36f
E. The area of Kotohiracho spans 8.46km2, 3.3km across and
5.3km long.
Geographically, Kotohiracho is longer than it is wide, lying
within the delta between the Kanakuragawa and Dokigawa Rivers.
The western region lies along the foothills of Mount Zozu,
524 meters in altitude and designated a Scenic National Monument
and part of the Seto Inland Sea National Park. The town is
neighbored by Mannocho Town to its east, Chunancho Town to
its south, Miyatogun District Takasecho Town to its southwest,
and shares its north and northwest borders with Zentsuji City.
Routes 32, 319 and 377 of the National Highway pass through
Kotohiracho, connecting it to Tokushima, Kochi, and Ehime.
The town is located 6.5 kilometers from the Takamatsu Highway
Zentsuji Interchange via Route 319. By train, the JR Dosan
Line and the Takamatsu-Kotohira Railroad Kotohira Line both
provide access to Kotohira Station, which is also the final
stop on the latter. Downtown Takamatsu City, the prefectural
capital, is 60 minutes away by train, car, or bus.
The virgin forests of Mount Zozu are home to precious species
of flora and fauna, and its summit offers spectacular views
of the Sanuki Plains and the Seto Inland Sea.
Kotohiracho belongs to the Seto Inland Climate Zone, with
an average yearly temperature of 16.7K Celsius and 817.5mm
of annual rainfall. The region is blessed with temperate weather
throughout the year, allowing comfortable living conditions.
Kotohira is favored by many as a town flourishing every season
with flowers and ancient verdure, including azaleas, cherry
trees, and maple trees. |
