Blessed in its location amidst a rich natural environment,
Kotohiracho is best known for its Kotohiragu Shrine, affectionately
referred to as gKompirasan of Sanukih since ancient times. The town
has developed through the years, loved by many for its tourism and
its significance in the Japanese religious tradition.
Since the townfs first general 10-year project was conceived in
1980 and the second in 1991, we have been working toward the implementation
of various goals with the cooperation and understanding of the residents.
Japan has been seeing marked socioeconomic changes lately, both
within and outside the country: a declining birthrate and aging
population, increasing internationalization, and rapid developments
in the information technology revolution. As a result, the residents
of Kotohira have been experiencing changes in their lifestyles and
value systems, and their expectations of their government are also
growing more varied and complex. The third general project discusses
how Kotohira can develop as a community within the next ten years
or so, in order to adapt to these trends. The project also includes
concrete measures to be taken in the first five years of the term.
As part of this project, we plan to continue as before with our
theme of gKotohiracho, Home of the Hearth and work towards the creation
of a beautiful community where history and flourishing culture are
cherished. We will develop our administration with the aim that
every resident of and visitor to Kotohira may experience joy, peace
and plenitude here.
In order to manifest gKotohiracho, a town of peace, comfort and
quality of lifeh in the 21st century, we request the active participation
and cooperation of our residents. In the administration of this
town, it is our intent to promote measures with this motto as our
guiding principle.
To make this possible, we aim to create an environment in which
the abilities of our town officials are applied to their fullest
capacity, to train personnel worthy of our peoplefs trust and appreciation,
and to create a community in which all residents may live as one.
We sincerely ask for your understanding and further support towards
the realization of our townfs future.
